IT was not the triumphant return Britney Spears had hoped for.
Disgruntled fans stormed out of last night’s Australian debut of The Circus concert in Perth upset by the star’s miming and “appalling” performance on stage.
They began walking out after the first three songs, some having paid $1500 to see Spears perform.
“It was just really bad,’’ Kathy Wright,32, said.
“She has not spoken, there is no interaction.”
Friend Josh Blee said: “We are really big Britney fans but it was cr-p.”
“I thought after the music awards she would make up for it with a wicked concert, but she has let us down,” he said.
Maria Carmody also left with a group of friends.
They were disappointed that the giant screens did not show any vision of Spears performing.
“She is a little dot on the stage,’’ Ms Carmody said.
Ms Carmody was also disgusted by the unruly behaviour of fans in the general admission area.
She said she was elbowed and pushed by overzealous fans.
Spears performed to over 17,000 fans at last night’s concert at Perth Burswood Dome.
The screens only displayed circus images and Spears had her back to the audience for most of the show.
Several fans questioned whether the lack of vision on the giant screens was to cover up her lip synching.

I read that people Britney’s tour didn’t get any coverage in Australia, so no one knew much about it – so there was no desire to see it on Youtube or anything like that. They said they had no idea what to expect.

What stupid idiots , you pay to be entertained and true Britney fans just go to see her anyways…. Epic fail on there part! Like she’s the only artist to lip sync!! So many artist do it that we don’t even know about ,the press doesn’t make a big deal about it with them !

I can understand being upset about the screens, they hardly show Britney on those things, but the singing… seriously!?!? Yeah you may have not seen the clips from THIS tour, but britney didnt start lip singing this tour shes been doing it for years.

I went to her show in boston and it was AMAZING (regardless that she didn’t sing live). I would’ve paid my $250 a pop to just SEE her in person, not to mention have her perform for me!
The biggest myth growing in Australia is that Britney’s images are not on the big-screen “to hide her lip-syncing”. The truth is that, as self-conscious as ever, she found these images distracting whilst performing. It happened midway through the US tour when, according to one of the dancers, she “looked up, saw herself and didn’t like what she saw”. It’s a distraction thing, not a concealment thing. I fear fans in Australia are reading between the lines where the lines do not exist.
