If you read this site you know I have a huge inflamed boner for Perez Hilton and not in a good way. I will never EVER get over or let go of how he treated Britney Spears during her breakdown. I can point to about 100 different posts, videos and nasty things he said about her during the hardest time of her life.

To be clear, I personally have nothing against this person. I do not know him and don’t care to know him, BUT he gets a pass on humiliating a girl who was obviously suffering from mental illness simply because he likes to call it “entertainment” and “acting”.

Many bloggers have gone after him for various issues and in the blogger community I can tell you he is not liked. Sure you can say he paved the way for other bloggers and I cant deny him that, but in my opinion he merely had good timing when he started blogging. He didn’t invent a cure for cancer. He wrote about people like millions of bloggers do, so that is no excuse to constantly hound child actors, women and anyone else who seems to be a threat to him.

Perez is the guy who had his lunch money stolen and he’s still making everyone pay for all his pain years later. That said, there seems to be a shift in what the Internet community as a whole thinks of him. People seem to be personally attacking him on his blog (in the readers comments) more than ever. He’s so busy promoting his own fame that his site is often days late on breaking stories, has lots and lots of editing and grammar errors, and now it seems that someone has finally started calling out the accuracy of the stories themselves.

Enter GossipCop.com. The site aims to report accurate gossip and call bullshit on rumored gossip. Today alone he called out Perez for two stories claimed to be inaccurate.  One here and one here.

Blogs and websites are full of gossip and I adore gossip, thus the reason I gossip about Britney all the time, however when you try to take credit as the source or claim to be breaking the news without naming the source, then Gossipcop can certainly assume that you are the source. In other words, Perez likes to act like he has the inside scoop and his readers usually don’t know that the information he’s reporting have been plucked from the real source somewhere else. This annoys bloggers and gossip websites that deserve the credit.

With that said, let me tell you why I like GossipCop.com. First, its got the balls to report the misinformation that many times TMZ and Radaronline don’t bother with. Secondly, the site operators’ are no slouch. The site is under the control of  a former news director of Us Weekly and is co owned by MSNBC’s Dan Abrams.
